Using sensors with your EMS tracking solution helps to create a superb EMS tracking experience by adding an additional layer of insight to better understand your drivers and jobs. What kind of sensors are available for you on the StreetEagle platform? Currently we offer temperature sensors and siren sensors that connect with both our software and your EMS vehicles.
Temperature sensors
Like the name suggests, temperature sensors measure and help regulate the temperature within parts of the vehicle. Not necessary for the main cab, temperature sensors are a great way to regulate medications that need to be within a certain temperature range. Like many of our clients, if you live in a hot place during the summer, temperature sensors can be pertinent to keeping your medicine safe.
Tying this back to our EMS tracking system, use temperature sensors to receive alerts when the temperature is incorrect, and address the problem immediately.
Siren sensors
Siren sensors monitor when your sirens are going or triggered. Reporting more than the sirens being turned on, these sensors measure the entire duration of time the sirens are used. Why is that important? As mentioned earlier in this post, it is important to link your siren data and your tracking data because it paints a full picture of what is happening with your driver.
If your driver has sustained speeding for 10 minutes and the sirens are on, it would make sense that they are responding to a call of some sort of emergency. If you find that the driver is speeding and the sirens are not on, this is an opportunity to coach your driver about their behavior.
But siren sensors do not absolve your drivers of their behavior, so driver coaching is crucial. Clearly explain your expectations to your drivers about what behaviors you are monitoring and what is acceptable when sirens are on or off.
